Book Review: Be the People By Carol Swain

Be the People: A Call to Reclaim America’s Faith and Promise by Carol Swain, who is an American political scientist and Professor of Law and Political Science at Vanderbilt University. She brings a highly educated look at the issues in her book, while also having the life long education of being brought up in an underprivileged family with 11 siblings.

This book takes a look at how America has shifted away from the moral ground it was founded on and why that shift is dangerous.  She tackles tough issues like abortion, family values and immigration. In the last chapter she challenges the reader to do what she feels must be done to get America back on the road to recovery.

Her view point is presented in an easy to read manner that makes you feel like you are getting to know her through this book. You feel more like you are listening to a friend and not just a lecture by a college professor. I really enjoyed this book and have developed a sincere interest in learning more about Mr Swain.
