In a recent New York Times article, the plans of the President and his Democrat minions was reported on. I would like to look at a couple of statements made in the article, make my comments and see what you think. Please take time to read the entire article and form your own opinion, I may be wrong, but I am an average American and this is what I got out of it.
“the president’s proposal was being written so that it could be attached to a budget bill as a way of averting a Republican filibuster in the Senate.” – So the President feels the only way to get around the constitution is to make HIS healthcare plan pork and then earmark it into a budget bill. How low can he sink before people realize how bad he is for our country?
Side question: Why is it legal for politicians to things to a bill that have nothing to do with the bill? I know this is the definition of pork or earmarks, but why is it legal to do? That needs to be changed.
“The House and the Senate each adopted a version of sweeping health care legislation late last year. But efforts to combine the measures stalled after a Republican, Scott Brown, won a special Senate election in Massachusetts on Jan. 19, effectively stripping the Democrats of the 60th vote they needed to overcome Republican filibusters.” – Let me see if I can translate out the liberal spin. “The House and Senate DEMOCRATS each adopted a version of Government controlled healthcare legislation late last year. But efforts to combine and ram the bill past the American people stalled after the people of Massachusetts elected a Republican, Senator Scott Brown, in a special Senate election on Jan. 19, effectively stripping the Democrats of the super majority 60th vote they needed to do what ever they wanted to do without compromising with Republicans and prevent the American people from having a voice.” Ok, so some of my words could be slanted to the American way, but shouldn’t all news be slanted to what is best for America?
““It will be a reconciliation bill,” one Democratic aide said.” – I love the fact this source is an “aide” and has no name to confirm the info, great journalism there NYT. ” “If Republicans don’t come with any substantial offers, this is what we would do.”” – I wounder who will be the judge of what constitutes “substantial”, Democrats or Americans?
“Democratic officials said the president’s proposal, like the House and Senate bills, would insure more than 30 million Americans by 2019, at a cost of about $900 billion.” – I have a simple plan for the same amount of money. Take each person that is un-insured and send them $30,000 to cover their healthcare. That would cover them for about 10 years of healthcare coverage, which is longer than the Presidents plan.
“Congressional Republicans have not said they will attend the summit. House Republicans on Thursday repeated their demand that Democrats discard the existing proposals and start over.” – Why should the Republicans go and be told to sign the Presidents plan or else be ridiculed by “quality” news outlets like the NYT.
“Mr. Obama has rejected the calls to start over, but aides have said that he is open to adopting Republican ideas.” – Forget the unnamed aides, I would like to hear the President say this himself, on prime time television.
“There has not been a collaborative process,” said a Congressional Democrat with decades of health care experience. “We have not been consulted. This is very much a White House proposal.” – Who said this? No name = no legitimacy of the comment.
This is the type of reporting that is destroying our country. People read articles like this one from NYT and then go away thinking they know what is going on. Wrong, they walk away with the thought that the NYT wants them to think. The president is using the media to try and get the people on his side and ignores all indications that the people are not on his side any longer.
People, WAKE UP!! Start thinking for yourself. The president is going to try and pass what ever he wants in what ever manner he can NO MATTER WHAT YOU SAY! Is that the United States of America?
